Issuing a #CarbonOffsetChallenge to the Renewable Energy Industry

Can I just start off by saying: Happy Birthday PowerHub!

Can you believe that, 8 years ago as of April 1st (fitting, ain’t it?) we started this journey locally, and have now grown globally.

At our core, our mission was and continues to be, to contribute to the deployment of renewable energy. What took us to Windsor for a factory audit now takes us from NYC to Tokyo, through Amman and Munich, and beyond.

We are committed to helping project developers, owners, and operators grow better. Were here to support them with expertise and technology to deliver asset intelligence. Furthermore, we believe technology can play a broad role in making our industry more effective and efficient and ultimately grow to become THE source of power on the planet.

While we may have a long way to go, the growth of renewables is impressive, and is destined to make a positive impact on livelihoods, the environment, and economies sooner than later.

Throughout our travels weve flown many kilometers to witness first hand – and support – the growth of our industry. That travel, although necessary comes with a cost to our planet. So as a birthday gift to our team (and planet), weve now decided to outweigh every kilometer flown with its respective carbon offset. And we want to go one step further… renewables takes us to the four corners of the globe, and you, too.

As of today we would like to launch the #carbonoffsetchallengePowerHub is officially issuing a call to action to all our sister companies in the renewable energy space to #comeclean on their travel and support the #carbonoffset program of their choice.

This no contest, and there are no prizes. It is simply the time to change for the better.

At PowerHub we have chosen to offset our carbon footprint by supporting projects brought forth by carbonzero (http://www.carbonzero.caa leader in the design and implementation of corporate carbon reduction strategies and solutions in the emerging low carbon economy. And to make it easier they are Canadian so the impacts will be local. Another plus.

Whether you choose to go with carbonzero or any other entity, be consistent and thorough. For the first quarter of 2019 we have offsetted 42 Tons of Carbon from our corporate travel.

We hope you will join us in the #carbonoffsetchallenge.
