Our CEO, Etienne Lecompte, once told me that “the march forward for renewable energy is unstoppable, but things are getting more complex.”
That really resonated for me. Often, technology companies, and in particular, SaaS companies like ours, have dreams of being “born global,” and the entire conversation got us wondering, how can renewable energy companies do the same? Or in any case, how can they globalize quickly enough to be competitive, while still building a good foundation for their business growth?
We want to help, so now the PowerHub platform (and the website) is available in English, French, Spanish, German, Portuguese, and Japanese. In the platform, users can select their language preference in the drop down menu titled “User Preferences” in the Profile section of the application. On the website, a dropdown menu in the main header (top right of the page) allows users to select their language.
Managing Global Portfolios
As of the end of 2016, when global installed capacity hit 300GW for solar alone, Europe and Asia accounted for 248 GW of that total. So solar power generation is decidedly global, and North America is nowhere near dominant. In Wind, the story’s a bit different, but not by much. Wind’s 487 GWs are dominated by China, the US, Germany, and India.
Asset management tools and practices need to reflect that. You’re managing PV and wind energy projects around the world, and dealing with stakeholders and contractors that speak different languages. We understand. Your business is too important for language barriers to stand in the way.
Stakeholder Engagement
Managing international portfolios means dealing with language barriers in communicating with your stakeholder groups. We just launched PowerHubin French, Spanish, German, Portuguese, and Japanese for this very reason. Go ahead and invite your German team members onto your asset management platform, get your Japanese Operations and Maintenance providers on there, and share your reports with Spanish stakeholders. They’ll understand.
How to Change Your Language in PowerHub
Log into your account in the PowerHub platform, and click on your “Profile” icon in the upper right hand corner of the screen. Click on “User Preferences” and from there, you can select your preferred language from the drop down. This setting is user-specific, and won’t affect your projects or organization.
